  1. What a fantastic surprise! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Sep 2014

1 month ago, my 4-year old Rally GL400's bridge pickup died on me and I was deciding between giving an overhaul with new pickups vs buying a new guitar since the price of a complete overhaul was nearly 300.
I decided to try out a few Strat models that I'd been quite interested in and researched on and ultimately asked to try a Dean Zelinsky Z Glide Tagliare first. My, oh my - the clarity between each string, the thinner, faster neck(which served me more appropriately since I have small hands/fingers) and the amazingly light body that still served up a good tone prompted me to buy it asap because it fit me to a T. I tried a Swing Prism 250 next because I liked the idea of a piezo pickup but, too late, I was spoilt by the Tagliare.
Now, I have to admit, for the first 2 weeks I had it home, I had mixed opinions on whether or not I had made the right move - mainly because I was not used to alot of the Strat mechanics(a maple laquered fretboard, single coils that hummed, and that crazy volume knob). I even thought of selling away this new toy!
But today, after alot of forum readthroughs, YouTube viewings on Strat playing, I'm proud to say I have finally gotten in sync with the Tagliare - I eq it differently from my Rally, put a gate for the hum, and took of the volume knob cap to make palm muting much more easier.
I have come to love this new axe once again, and am reminded of what I fell in love with initially - the versatility of different sounds along with comfort, packaged and offered at a mid range price that makes it quite a steal.
