  1. Smash S1: Cheap & cheerful

Posted by theguitaraddict on 17th Mar 2011

We often overlook an obscure brand name because of a lack in trust. The musical instruments of today should be valued according to its performance worth & not by virtue of its brand name exclusively. Smash's S1 is a wonderful player for the money. The QC on offer is well above-average & the manufacturer included a deserving set of pickups for the guitar. We should be thankful for this consideration because the inherent tone for many instruments in this price bracket are, at most, acceptable but with the S1, we hear some ear candy along the way, especially for all you crunch tone fans. The guitar in whole isn't a cheesy attempt to replicate the venerable (Fender) Stratocaster but it has some surprises & holds its own fine performance.

I'd recommend this guitar to all beginners looking for some tone gems on a budget & to seasoned players alike as proof that the good things in life need not cost us our kidney.
